North Carolina had long been recognized for rich traditions in crafts, literature, historical drama, and music when, by executive order in 1964, Governor Terry Sanford created the North Carolina Arts Council to strengthen North Carolina's creativity, invention, and prosperity. Under Governor Dan K. Moore, the Arts Council became a statutory state agency in 1967. It operates today as an agency of the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources, the nation's first cabinet level state agency for the arts, history, and libraries.

Lee County Community Orchestra

We are in our twenty-second full season.  The process involves assembling volunteer amateur musicians, led by a professional concertmaster and the conductor, for eight weekly rehearsals, a dress rehearsal, and a two-performance concert. This cycle is repeated four times:  October, December, March and May.  The objective is to prepare well privately and to perform well publicly so that both musicians and audience are stimulated and satisfied.

Lee County JobReady Partnership Council

Started in 1996 through a North Carolina School-to-Career grant, JobReady is a grassroots organization operated to support the middle and high school Career and Technical Education programs (formerly known as vocational education) in Lee County Schools through partnerships with Central Carolina Community College and local community leaders.

Lee County Partnership for Children

LCPFC is a 501(c)3 organization charged with administering two state-funded programs in Lee County, Smart Start and More at Four Pre-Kindergarten.  Smart Start, North Carolina's nationally recognized public-private initiative, was created in 1993 with a mission to ensure that every child in the state arrives at school healthy and ready to succeed.  More at Four Pre-Kindergarten is a community-based preschool program designed to provide 4-year-old children, who may not otherwise be served, with a valuable educational experience.

Local school PTO organizations benefit from the sales.  Funds are distributed annually based on volunteer work hours by participating schools.

Lee-Moore Capital Company (LMCC) is the operating unit of Lee-Moore Oil Company.  Lee-Moore Oil Company, founded in 1932 as a traditional Petroleum Distributor, provided motor fuel to retail outlets, home heating oil and fuel oil for agricultural use.  The company has been located in Sanford, North Carolina since its inception in 1932.  Lee-Moore Oil Company has used its platform in the community, its financial resources and its experience and capabilities to venture outside of its core fuels distribution business to other types of investment.  These other areas include; venture capital, residential development, commercial development and raw land acquisition.

Local Joe's opened December 22, 1998. The interior of the restaurant contains booth tables and a long bar. The menu consists of sandwiches ranging from handmade burgers to a philly to your standard chicken sandwich. They also serve salads, soups, wings, and other appetizers.
