Under Governor Dan K. Moore, the Arts Council became a statutory state agency in 1967. Economic Development

We are in our twenty-second full season.  The process involves assembling volunteer amateur musicians, led by a professional concertmaster and the conductor, for eight weekly rehearsals, a dress rehearsal, and a two-performance concert. This cycle is repeated four times:  October, December, March and May.  The objective is to prepare well privately and to perform well publicly so that both musicians and audience are stimulated and satisfied.

The Lee County Education Foundation (LCEF) is a non-profit 501 © 3 entity dedicated to supporting excellence in the Lee County public schools.   Our mission is to mobilize financial resources to fund programs that promote student performance and excellence in our schools.   The LCEF was founded in 2003.

LCI operates through income from industrial contracts and award sales, charitable grants and, most importantly, tax-deductible gifts from friends. It also draws upon volunteers to work with participants and publishes occasional information for anyone wanting to stay informed about the organization and its new ventures.

Started in 1996 through a North Carolina School-to-Career grant, JobReady is a grassroots organization operated to support the middle and high school Career and Technical Education programs (formerly known as vocational education) in Lee County Schools through partnerships with Central Carolina Community College and local community leaders.

The county's very first nursing home has been providing quality care and service for over 49 years. Our extensive experience allows us to provide execptional care and support to meet each resident's specific needs. We have made it our mission to break the traditional view that "newer is better" by continuously going above and beyond expectations. Following our motto of "My resident as myself," we provide care in an enjoyable, family-like environment. Among many services our dedicated staff provides are 24-hour Skilled Nursing Care, Physical, Occupational & Speech Therapies, Stroke & Neurological Disorder Therapies, Wound Care, and Post-Surgical Recovery. LCPFC is a 501(c)3 organization charged with administering two state-funded programs in Lee County, Smart Start and More at Four Pre-Kindergarten.  Smart Start, North Carolina's nationally recognized public-private initiative, was created in 1993 with a mission to ensure that every child in the state arrives at school healthy and ready to succeed.  More at Four Pre-Kindergarten is a community-based preschool program designed to provide 4-year-old children, who may not otherwise be served, with a valuable educational experience.

Many people think of the YMCA as a building, but it is so much more. In fact, more than half of all participants take part in YMCA programs outside our facilities. Program sites include schools, churches, community centers, parks and many others.

Lee-Moore Insurance has been serving the insurance needs of individuals and families in the Sandhills for over twenty-five years, formed in 1976 as a personal lines agency to serve the home and auto needs of Broadway, Carrboro, and Seven Lakes. We offer a wide range of products and services to meet the needs of our clients. Our business has been able to grow to include individuals, families, and businesses from the mountains to the coast of North Carolina.

Lee PTO Thrift Shop is a non-profit 501c3 organization.  We receive donated items: clothing, furniture, household goods, toys, books and more.  These items are sold for the benefit of Lee County Schools.

Local school PTO organizations benefit from the sales.  Funds are distributed annually based on volunteer work hours by participating schools.

Lee-Moore Capital Company (LMCC) is the operating unit of Lee-Moore Oil Company.  Lee-Moore Oil Company, founded in 1932 as a traditional Petroleum Distributor, provided motor fuel to retail outlets, home heating oil and fuel oil for agricultural use.  The company has been located in Sanford, North Carolina since its inception in 1932.  Lee-Moore Oil Company has used its platform in the community, its financial resources and its experience and capabilities to venture outside of its core fuels distribution business to other types of investment.  These other areas include; venture capital, residential development, commercial development and raw land acquisition.

Construction Company

Local Joe's opened December 22, 1998. The interior of the restaurant contains booth tables and a long bar. The menu consists of sandwiches ranging from handmade burgers to a philly to your standard chicken sandwich. They also serve salads, soups, wings, and other appetizers. Local Joe's is open for lunch Monday through Friday and Monday through Saturday for dinner. The bar stays open later than the kitchen at night for the crowd that likes to sit and have a couple of cocktails. Local Joe's is perfect for those who wants a quick bite to eat or those who want to sit and relax with their friends.
